Board Toolbar

The board toolbar sits between the main toolbar and the board content. It holds controls that let you change how you see and interact with the board — view type, filters, display preferences, and a few view-specific actions.

View Switcher

The leftmost control. Switch between ways to look at the same data:

ViewGood for
KanbanDrag-and-drop columns — the classic board layout
ListSpreadsheet-style sorting, filtering, and bulk editing
CalendarPlanning by due date
TimelineGantt-style scheduling with milestones
FormsCollect tasks from a shareable form (opt-in — see below)

Your filters, search, and display settings are preserved when you switch views.

Try Forms nudge

Boards that don't have Forms turned on show a subtle dashed + Forms affordance at the end of the view tabs, just before the View Preferences icon. Hover it for a tooltip explaining what Forms does; a small × slides in to dismiss the nudge permanently for that board.

Clicking + Forms turns the view on and switches to it:

  • Admins enable Forms board-wide — it's added to Visible views in View Preferences and everyone sees it.
  • Editors enable Forms just for themselves as a per-user override; the board's Visible views aren't changed.
  • Viewers don't see the nudge.

View Preferences

A small sliders icon sits at the end of the view tab bar. It opens View preferences with two tabs:

  • Your view (everyone) — pick a default for yourself: Use board default, Kanban, List, Calendar, Timeline, or Forms. Stored locally in this browser, per board. Picking Use board default clears your override.
  • Board default (admins only) — pick the view everyone lands on by default, and choose which views appear in the tab bar under Visible views. Kanban, List, Calendar, and Timeline are on by default; Forms is off on new boards and is enabled here. Existing boards keep their current view set. Persists server-side; takes effect immediately for anyone who hasn't set a personal override.

Just clicking a view tab is transient — it doesn't persist. Use the dialog when you want a choice to stick.

When no preference is set, the board opens in Kanban.

Common Actions

These controls appear on every view:

Statistics

Toggle the Board Statistics panel — a real-time dashboard of task counts, completion rate, workload, and overdue items.

Filters

Narrow the visible tasks by tags, members, priority, dates, completion status, or custom field values. Filters apply across all views. See Tags & Filters.

Filter tasks by title in real time. Works on top of active filters — type anything and only matching task titles remain visible.

Automations

Open the Automations builder to create workflows that respond to board events. Only board Admins see this.

Display Preferences

Open the display preferences panel to customize the board's appearance. This panel has three tabs:

Display tab

Controls what's visible on cards and how the board is laid out.
